Happy birthday, James Michael...
Born James Andrew Michael on September 26 1967 in Holland, Michigan, US, James Michael is a record producer, engineer, mixer, songwriter, musician and vocalist. He currently sings in the band Sixx:A.M. (lineup: James Michael (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboard, drum programming), DJ Ashba (lead guitar, backing vocals), Nikki Sixx (bass, backing vocals)).
When he was a teenager, he played in local rock bands like The Way We Dress and Night Shift.
He moved to Los Angeles in the late 80s.
As a record producer, songwriter and/or mixer/engineer, he has worked with several bands and artists such as Scorpions, Mötley Crüe, Brides of Destruction, Sammy Hagar, Halestorm...
In 2000, his first album, Inhale, is released. On this album, he played all the instruments, except a few which were played by guest artists. He also wrote and mixed the whole album.
In 2007, he co-founded Sixx:A.M. with Nikki Sixx. The band released its debut album, The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, the same year. The album is a concept album designed to be an accompaniment to Nikki Sixx's autobiography (co-written with Ian Gittens), The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star.
He co-wrote and and mixed Mötley Crüe's album Saints Of Los Angeles (2008).
On May 7 2009, he released the song Los Angeloser (which was later given to Meat Loaf).
In 2011, Sixx:A.M. released its second album, This Is Gonna Hurt, accompanying Nikki Sixx's new book, also called This Is Gonna Hurt.
On October 7 2014, Sixx:A.M.'s third album, Modern Vintage, will be released.
