Happy birthday, Adrian Smith ...
Born Adrian Frederick "H" Smith on 27 February 1957 in Hackney, east London, England, Adrian Smith is a guitarist best known as a member of Iron Maiden, for whom he writes songs and performs live backing vocals on some tracks.
Smith grew up in Camden, London and became interested in rock music at 15.
He soon formed a friendship with future Iron Maiden guitarist Dave Murray, who inspired him to take up the guitar.
After leaving school at 16, he formed a band called Urchin (lineup 1974/75: Adrian Smith (guitar), Maurice Coyne (guitar), John Hoye (bass), David Hall (vocals), Barry Tyler (drums)), which he led until their demise in 1980.
He joined Iron Maiden in November 1980, replacing Dennis Stratton (lineup 1982: Bruce Dickison (vocals), Steve Harris (bass), Dave Murray (guitar), Adrian Smith (guitar), Nico McBrain (drums)).
Following a short-lived solo project called A.S.A.P, he left Iron Maiden in 1990 and formed a group called Psycho Motel (lineup 1995: Adrian Smith (guitar, backing vocals), Hans-Olav Solli (Vocals), Gary Leideman (bass), Mike Sturgis (drums)).
In 1997, Psycho Motel was put on hold and he joined the band of former Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson (lineup 1997: Bruce Dickinson  (vocals), Adrian Smith  (guitar), Roy Z  (guitar), Eddie Casillas  (bass), David Ingraham  (drums)).
Smith and Dickinson returned to Iron Maiden in 1999, after which the band gained new success.
Smith has a current side project called Primal Rock Rebellion with Mikee Goodman (ex. SikTh).

Né Adrian Frederick «H» Smith, né le 27 Février 1957 à Hackney, est de Londres, Angleterre, Adrian Smith est un guitariste plus connu en tant que membre du groupe Iron Maiden, pour lequel il écrit des chansons et chante les choeurs de certains morceaux.
Smith grandit dans le quartier de Camden à Londres et commence à s'interesser à la musique rock à 15 ans.
Peu après, il se lie d'amitié avec le futur guitariste d'Iron Maiden, Dave Murray, qui l'incite à jouer de la guitare.
Après avoir quitté l'école à 16 ans, il forme un groupe appelé Urchin (lineup 1974/75 : Adrian Smith (guitare), Maurice Coyne (guitare), John Hoye (basse), David Hall (chant), Barry Tyler (batterie)), qu'il dirige jusqu'à sa séparation en 1980.

Suite à un projet solo de courte durée appelé A.S.A.P, il quitte Iron Maiden en 1990 et forme un groupe appelé Psycho Motel (lineup 1995 : Adrian Smith (guitare, choeur), Hans-Olav Solli (chant), Gary Leideman (basse), Mike Sturgis (batterie)).
En 1997, Psycho Motel est mis "en attente" et il rejoint le groupe de l'ancien chanteur d'Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson (lineup 1997 : Bruce Dickinson  (vocals), Adrian Smith (guitare), Roy Z  (guitare), Eddie Casillas  (basse), David Ingraham  (batterie)).
Smith et Dickinson reintégrent Iron Maiden en 1999, après quoi le groupe retrouve le chemin du succès.
Smith travaille parallèlement à un autre projet appelé Primal Rock Rebellion avec Mikee Goodman (ex. SikTh).
