Tom Keifer, Cinderella - Dallas (2014)

Happy birthday, Tom Keifer...
Born Carl Thomas Keifer on January 26 1961 in Springfield, Pennsylvania, US, Tom Keifer is a musician, vocalist and songwriter. He is mostly known as the singer of Cinderella.
When he was a kid, Keifer fell in love with blues, which heavily influenced him, and learned to play the guitar.
When he was in junior high school, he joined his first rock band and learned to play the electric guitar.
After graduating, he played guitars in bands like Saints in Hell, Telapath, and Diamonds.
In 1983, with his friend Eric Brittingham, he founded Cinderella (original lineup: Tom Keifer (lead vocals, rhythm & lead guitars, acoustic guitar, keyboards, piano, mandolin, dobro, saxophone, harmonica), Michael Smerick (lead & rhythm guitars, backing vocals), Eric Brittingham (bass, backing vocals), Tony Destra (drums, percussion)).
The band got its big break after Jon Bon Jovi had seen them perform at the Empire Rock Club and had recommended his A&R to see them too.
In 1985, Smerick and Destra left to form Britny Fox. They were replaced by Jeff LaBar and Jim Drnec (replaced by Fred Coury in 1986).
The band released its debut album, Night Songs, in 1986. The record went triple platinium and reached No. 3 on the Billboard charts in February 1987.
Keifer wrote hits like Shake Me, Nobody's Fool, Gypsy Road, Heartbreak Station...
In 1987, the band toured a lot, opening for five months for David Lee Roth and for seven months for Bon Jovi.
In 1989, Cinderella performed at the Moscow Music Peace Festival alongside bands like Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, Ozzy Osbourne, Scorpions, Skid Row...
After the release of Heartbreak Station (1990), Keifer lost his voice (he had nodules on his vocal cords and paralysis of the left cord).
He underwent many surgery to remove the nodules on his vocal cords and he also needed to learn to sing again because of the paralysis of his left cord. He also fought depression.
Cinderella went on hiatus in 1995, reunited in 1997 and toured in 1998.
In 2006, Cinderella toured with Poison to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the two bands.
Cinderella opened for Bret Michaels at the Common Ground Music Festival in Lansing, Michigan in July 2010.
The band did a US tour with Sebastian Bach supporting them in Summer 2012.
Keifer released a solo album, The Way Life Goes, in 2013.
To conclude, we wish a happy birthday and years of rock to Tom Keifer!
