Happy birthday, Acey Slade...
Born Emil John Schmidt IV on December 15 1974 in Pennsylvania, U.S., Acey Slade is a vocalist, guitarist and bassist best known as the former guitarist of the Murderdolls. He is currently the lead singer and guitarist of Acey Slade & the Dark Party and the bassist of Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.
From 1998 to 2002, he played in the band Dope (lineup in 1998 : Edsel Dope (vocals, rhythm guitar), Tripp Eisen (lead guitar), Acey Slade (bass), Preston Nash (drums), Simon Dope (keyboards)).
Along with playing in Dope, Acey fronted the band Vampire Love Dolls.
In 2002, he joined Muderdolls (lineup in 2002: Wednesday 13 (lead vocals), Acey Slade (lead guitar, backing vocals), Joey Jordison (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Eric Griffin (bass, backing vocals), Ben Graves (drums)).
Murderolls were put on hiatus in 2004.
The same year, Acey filled in on guitar for Amen for a tour of Japan. He also formed the band Trashlight Vision (original lineup: Acey Slade (vocals, guitar), Steve Haley (guitar, backing vocals), Roger "Rags" Segal (bass, backing vocals), Lenny Thomas (drums)).
For Roadrunner Records' 25-year anniversary, he played rhythm guitar on the track Tired 'N Lonely (he collaborated on this song with Joey Jordison) on Roadrunner United.
Trashlight Vision disbanded on September 12 2007.
The following year, Acey filled in as guitarist for Wednesday 13 for a tour.
He is also one of the contributors to the book Sex Tips from Rock Stars written by Paul Miles. Rob "Blasko" Nicholson, Bruce Kulick, Lemmy Kilmister, James Kottak, Rob Patterson and many others also contributed to this book.
Acey's new band, Acey Slade & the Dark Party, released its debut album, The Dark Party, in 2010.
Acey also plays bass with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. He occasionally fill in on bass in the band Dope for tour dates.
