Happy birthday, Satchel...
Born Russ Parrish on 24 November 1970 in Redwood City, California, U.S., Satchel is a musician and songwriter mostly known as the guitarist of Steel Panther.
He cites Yngwie Malmsteen, Eddie Van Halen, Ritchie Blackmore, Buck Dharma, Tony Iommi and Alex Lifeson as his guitar influences.
In the early 90s, Satchel was an instructor at The Guitar Institute of Technology (G.I.T.) at Hollywood's Musician's Institute.
He worked a lot with Paul Gilbert and co-wrote several tracks with him.
He also played in the band The Thornbirds, which he formed, with Darren Leader, Jeff Duncan and Dean Cameron.
Before joining Rob Halford's band, Fight, he played guitar in Jeff Pilson's band, War & Peace.
In 1995, Satchel played in Kevin Gilbert's touring band in support of his album Thud.
The following year, he performed the song Rock Bottom with Sebastian Bach on a tribute album to Ace Frehley, Spacewalk (A Salute to Ace Frehley).
Satchel started performing with vocalist Michael Starr, bassist Lexxi Foxx and drummer Stix Zadinia as Metal Skool in the early 2000s.
They released their first album, Hole Patrol, in 2003.
They changed their name to Steel Panther in April 2008.
One year later, they released a new album, Feel The Steel.
In 2014, alongside Christian Martucci, Corey Taylor, Roy Mayorga and Jason Christopher, Satchel performed the song Rainbow In The Dark on the tribute album to Ronnie James Dio, Ronnie James Dio This Is Your Life.
On April 1 2014, Steel Panther released their fourth studio album, All You Can Eat.
