Bobby Blotzer (2009)

Happy birthday, Bobby Blotzer...
Born Robert John Blotzer on October 22 1958 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, Bobby Blotzer is a drummer. He is mostly known as the drummer of Ratt.
He met his future bandmate Juan Croucier at Torrance High School in Torrance, California, where they both attended.
In 1981, he played and toured with bassist Tom Croucier (Juan's older brother) and guitarist Vic Vergeat for Vergeat's 1981 album Down to the Bone.
In 1982, Blotzer was recruited by Stephen Pearcy to replace Khurt Maier in Ratt (classic lineup: Stephen Pearcy (lead vocals), Warren DeMartini (lead & rhythm guitars, backing vocals), Robbin Crosby (lead & rhythm guitars, backing vocals), Juan Croucier (bass, backing vocals), Bobby Blotzer (drums, percussion)).
In its first decade, Ratt released four platinium albums (Out of the Cellar (1984), Invasion of Your Privacy (1985), Dancing Undercover (1986), Reach for the Sky (1988)) and a gold album (Detonator (1990)).
In the early 90s, because of the rise of grunge, Ratt's popularity declined.
The band quitted in 1992.
During the five years prior to Ratt's reunion, Blotzer lived a "normal" life outside of the public eye.
In 1996, the band reunited but Juan Croucier didn't want to participate to the reunion and was remplaced by Robbie Crane. Also, Robbin Crosby was not physically able to perform with the band.
Pearcy quitted the band in 2000.
In 2002, Robbin Crosby died of AIDS related complications and heroin overdose. It was one of the most painful parts of Blotzer's life who was very close to him.
In 2006, with Jani Lane, Keri Kelli and Robbie Crane, Blotzer formed the supergroup Saints of the Underground.
In 2007, Pearcy reunited with Ratt again (lineup: Stephen Pearcy (vocals), Warren DeMartini (guitar, backing vocals), John Corabi (guitar, backing vocals), Robbie Crane (bass, backing vocals) and Bobby Blotzer (drums, percussion)).
In 2008, Saints of the Underground released its first album, Love The Sin, Hate The Sinner.
In 2010, Blotzer released his autobiography, Tales of A Ratt - Things You Shouldn't Know.
In September 2012, it was said that he would join Geoff Tate's lineup formed after his dismissal from Queensrÿch, but on January 25 2013, Blotzer left and returned playing with Ratt.
To conclude, we wish a happy birthday and years of rock to Bobby Blotzer!

Joyeux anniversaire, Bobby Blotzer ...
Durant sa première décénie, Ratt sort quatre albums disques de platine (Out of the Cellar (1984), Invasion of Your Privacy (1985), Dancing Undercover (1986), Reach for the Sky (1988)) et un album disque d'or (Detonator (1990)).
En 2008, Saints of the Underground sort son premier album, Love The Sin, Hate The Sinner.
En 2010, Blotzer sort son autobiographie, Tales of A Ratt - Things You Shouldn't Know.
