Happy birthday, Dave "The Snake" Sabo...
Born David Michael Sabo on September 16 1964 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, US, Dave "The Snake" Sabo is a musician and songwriter mostly known as the co-guitarist of Skid Row with Scotti Hill.
When he was a kid, he listened to bands like Kiss, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones...
He was an athlete but after seeing Kiss when he was 13, he gave up on sports and started to learn to play the guitar.
He grew up in Sayreville, in the same street as Jon Bon Jovi. In 1983, he was tapped to play the lead guitar in Bon Jovi but he never officially joined the band.
He formed Skid Row with Rachel Bolan in 1986 (classic lineup (1987-1996): Sebastian Bach (lead vocals), Dave Sabo (lead and rhythm guitars), Scotti Hill (rhythm and lead guitars), Rachel Bolan (bass), Rob Affuso (drums)).
Skid Row became popular with their two first albums, Skid Row (1989) and Slave to the Grind (1991), which both went multi platinium.
In 1996, after an argument with Rachel, Sebastian Bach was fired of the band.
In 1998, with singer Shawn McCabe, guitarist Scotti Hill, bassist Rachel Bolan and drummer Rob Affuso, he played in the band Ozone Monday.
Skid Row reformed with a new singer, Johnny Solinger, in 1999.
In 2003, the band released its fourth LP, Thickskin.
In 2007, Sabo composed music for the movie The Still Life.
On April 16, 2013, Skid Row released the EP United World Rebellion: Chapter One (lineup : Johnny Solinger (lead vocals), Dave Sabo (guitars, backing vocals), Scotti Hill (guitars, backing vocals), Rachel Bolan (bass, backing vocals) and Rob Hammersmith (drums)).
