Born Robbinson Lantz Crosby on August 4 1959 (died on June 6 2002) in La Jolla, California, US, Robbin Crosby was a musician and songwriter best known as the guitarist of Ratt.
Before playing in Ratt, Crosby had already played in a few bands with Stephen Pearcy.
Crosby joined Ratt in 1981.
He played on five Ratt's albums: Out of the Cellar (1984), Invasion of Your Privacy (1985), Dancing Undercover (1986), Reach for the Sky (1988) and Detonator (1990). The first four went platinium and the last one went gold (original lineup: Stephen Pearcy (vocals), Warren DeMartini (guitar, backing vocals), Robbin Crosby (guitar, backing vocals), Juan Croucier (bass, backing vocals), Bobby Blotzer (drums, percussion)).
Crosby co-wrote many songs like Round and Round, Wanted Man, Lay it Down, Back for More...
In 1988, he produced Lillian Axe's self tittled debut album.
In 1990, he played guitar on Jon Bon Jovi's first solo album, Blaze of Glory.
He left Ratt in 1991.
After his departure, he reunited with friends from San Diego on musical projects.
In June 1999, during an interview for VH1's Behind the Music, he talked about how his life changed because of his drug addiction and his HIV status.
Crosby became a Little League (Little League Baseball and Softball) coach. He also worked on a project to create a limited-edition run of Jackson King V "Big Red" replica guitars.
One of his last musical projects was with his former bandmate Juan Croucier.
Crosby died on June 6 2002 in Los Angeles. Reported causes of his death include AIDS-related complications, and heroin overdose.
