Born Anthony Joseph Perry on September 10 1950 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, US, Joe Perry is the lead guitarist of the rock band from Boston: Aerosmith (classic lineup: Steven Tyler (lead vocals, harmonica, piano, percussion, guitar, bass), Joe Perry (guitar, backing vocals), Brad Whitford (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass), Joey Kramer (drums, percussion)). In the Rolling Stone's list The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, he was ranked 84th.
Because of their heavy taking of drugs, Perry and his bandmate Steven Tyler were called the "Toxic Twins".
In the early 80s, Joe Perry formed the Joe Perry Project with which he released the albums : Let the Music Do the Talking, I've Got the Rock'n'Rolls Again and Once a Rocker, Always a Rocker.
In 2001, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame with Aerosmith, and in 2013, with Tyler, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
