Happy birthday, Freddie Mercury...
Born Farrokh Bulsara on September 5 1946 in Stone Town, Sultanate of Zanzibar (now Tanzania) (moved to Feltham, Middlesex, England when he was 17), Freddie Mercury was a  musician, record producer, singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lyricist and vocalist of the rock band Queen (classic lineup: Brian May (lead guitar, keyboards, piano, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, rhythm guitar, percussion, vocals, tambourine), Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano, rhythm guitar, tambourine), John Deacon – bass guitar, rhythm guitar, keyboard, backing vocals, triangle)).
He was known for having powerful vocals range over four octave and for having a flamboyant presence on stage.
He composed many hits for Queen like "We Are the Champions", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Don't Stop Me Now" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".
He aslo led a solo career, and also served as a produder or guest musician for other artists from times to times.
He died of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS one day after publicly acknowledging that he had the disease on 24 November 1991.
Posthumously, he was awarded the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 1992. he was induced into Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame as a member of Queen in 2001, into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2003, into the UK Music Hall Of Fame in 2004.
He is seen as one of the greastes singers of all times.

Né Farrokh Bulsara le 5 Septembre 1946 , Feddie Mercury était musicien, producteur de disques, chanteur et auteur-compositeur. Il est plus connu pour être le parolier et le chanteur du groupe de rock Queen (lineup classique : Brian May (lead guitare, clavier, piano, chant), Roger Taylor (batterie, guitare rythmique, percussions, chant, tambourin), Freddie Mercury (chant, piano, guitare rythmique, tambourin), John Deacon (basse, rhythm guitare, clavier, choeur, triangle)).
Il était connu pour avoir une voix puissante sur plus de quatre octaves et pour avoir une présence flamboyante sur scène .
Il a composé beaucoup de "tubes" pour "Queen" comme "We Are the Champions", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" et beaucoup d'autres encore.
Il a aussi poursuivi une carrière en solo, et a également de temps à autre endossé le rôle de producteur ou joué en tant que musicien invité pour d'autres artistes.
Il est mort d'une broncho-pneumonie provoquée par le sida le 24 Novembre 1991, après avoir annoncé publiquement, la veille, qu'il était porteur du virus.
À titre posthume, il a reçu un Brit Award pour sa contribution exceptionnelle à la musique en 1992. Il a été intronisé au Rock N ' Roll Hall of Fame en tant que membre du groupe Queen en 2001, au Songwriters Hall of Fame en 2003, et au UK Music Hall Of Fame en 2004.
Il est reconnu comme l'un des plus grand chanteurs de tous les temps.
