Happy birthday, Joey Tempest...

Born Rolf Magnus Joakim Larsson on August 19 1963 in Stockholm, Sweden, Joey Tempest is a singer, musician and songwriter mostly known as the frontman and main songwriter of Europe.
His favorite bands, which made him want to become a musician, were Led Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy. He began to learn playing music when he was a kid, his first instruments were the piano and the guitar.
He joined his first band, Jet, at the age of 13. As a teen, he played in several bands, alternating between singing, playing the rhythm guitar and the bass guitar.
In 1979, alongside guitarist John Norum, bassist Peter Olsson and drummer Tony Reno, he formed the band Force. The band quickly became famous in the suburbs of Stockholm and, in 1982, they changed their name to Europe and participated to the music competition Rock-SM. They won the contest and with it a record deal with Hot Records.
They released their debut self-titled album the following year (lineup: Joey Tempest (vocals, acoustic guitar, keyboards), John Norum (lead guitar, background vocals), John Levén (bass guitar, backing vocals), Tony Reno (drums)).
In 1984, keyboardist Mic Michaeli joined the band and Tony Reno was replaced on the drums by Ian Haughland.
In 1986, the band released its most successful album, The Final Countdown. The song of the same title reached No. 1 in 25 countries and gave the band its international breakthrough.
Hating the commercialized image of the band, John Norum left the band in November of the same year and was replaced by Kee Marcello.
The band released two albums with Kee Marcello on the lead guitar: Out of This World (1988) and Prisoners in Paradise (1991).
In 1992, the members decided to put the band on hiatus.
In the 90s, Joey began recording solo work and he released his debut album, A Place to Call Home, in 1995.
He later released two other solo albums: Azalea Place (1997) and Joey Tempest (2002).
Europe reunited for a show in Stockholm on New Year's Eve 1999. It was the band's only show featuring both of its lead guitarists, John Norum and Kee Marcello.
The band reunited for good in October 2003 after announcing plans for a new album and a world tour.
The said album, Start from the Dark, was released in 2004 (lineup: Joey Tempest (vocals, acoustic guitar), John Norum (lead guitar, backing vocals), John Levén (bass guitar, backing vocals), Ian Haugland (drums, backing vocals), Mic Michaeli (keyboards, piano, backing vocals)).
They released two other albums in the 2000s: Secret Society (2006) and Last Look at Eden (2009).
In October 2013, they released a 30th anniversary double CD, DVD and blu-ray disc which had been recorded and filmed at the Sweden Rock Festival earlier the same year.
In March 2015, the band released its tenth studio album, War of Kings, and embarked on a 14-date UK tour with Black Star Riders.

Ses groupes favoris, qui lui font vouloir devenir musicien, sont Led Zeppelin et Thin Lizzy. Il commence à apprendre à jouer de la musique quand il est enfant, ses premiers instruments sont le piano et la guitare.
Il rejoint son premier groupe, Jet, à 13 ans. Adolescent, il joue dans de nombreux groupes, alternant entre le chant, la guitare rythmique et la basse.
En 1979, aux côtés du guitariste John Norum, du bassiste Peter Olsson et du batteur Tony Reno, il forme le groupe Force. Le groupe se réunit pour de bon en OCtobre 2003 après avoir announcé des plans pour un nouvel album et une tournée mondiale.
