Happy birthday, Joe Savins ...
Born Joe Savins on April 23 1990 in Cambridge, United Kingdom, Joe Savins is a musician best known as a founding member and the lead guitarist of Mallory Knox.
Joe began to feel an interest in music at a really young age. In the early 1990s, with the explosion of Britpop, watching bands such as Oasis, Blur, Lightning Seeds and Suede perform on Top Of The Pops made him fall in love with guitar music.
He first started to learn to play the guitar at the age of 4. Starting at such a young age made playing guitar feel like a second nature for Joe. He later tried to learn to play the bass and the drums but never felt like carrying on with those instruments.
His passion for music was confirmed after he attended Oasis' famous Knebworth House show when he was 7. Since that day, he had always dreamed of being in a band and feels grateful and lucky everyday for being able to call it his job. Despite also being a big football fan, he never considered being a professional player, seeing himself more as a spectator then a participant.
Along with his future Mallory Knox bandmate James Gillett, Joe began to play in bands when he was 13. After a few short-lived projects, they formed a band called Ascendia, which was their first band to actually rehearse regularly and play gigs. Although none of these bands actually released anything, Joe still considers them as a good bit of experience which helped him when he formed Mallory Knox.
In 2009, feeling fed up with the band he was in, he decided to form Mallory Knox with Dave Rawling. At first, the band was only supposed to be a two-piece with no plans to ever play a show, the two of them only wanted to write and jam together for fun. They were soon joined by Sam Douglas and Mikey Chapman.
They recorded a few songs together, which they then released online, before being joined by James Gillet (Mallory Knox lineup: Mikey Chapman (lead vocals), Joe Savins (lead guitar, backing vocals), James Gillett (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Sam Douglas (bass, co-lead vocals), Dave Rawling (drums)).
After a few months of song-writing, the band began to play local shows in Cambridge.
In 2010, Mallory Knox embarked on their first ever tour, supporting Never Means Maybe.
The following year, in 2011, they released their debut EP, Pilot. The release of the EP started what Joe refers to as a "snowball effect" which led them into signing a record deal with A Wolf at Your Door and then recording their first album.
In 2012, the band released a series of singles and then, in January 2013, they released Signals, their first album. After the release of the album, which reached number 33 in the UK Album Charts, Mallory Knox supported Don Broco on their Priorities Tour and then embarked on their own headline tour to promote Signals.
After a series of tours, including both headline tours and support tours, and festivals, the band released Asymmetry (2014), their second album.
In the beginning of 2015, Mallory Knox went on their first tour of America, supporting Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens. Later the same year, they played on Vans Warped Tour.
In 2016, the band played on the mainstage for Slam Dunk festival and, in November the same year, they announced the release of their third album, Wired. The album was released in March 2017.
In February 2018, Mallory Knox announced that lead vocalist Mikey Chapman had left the group. The band has since carried on as a four-piece, with Sam Douglas moving from co-lead vocalist to lead vocalist.
Later the same month, they released Black Holes, their first single as a four-piece.
Mallory Knox are currently on a headline tour of the UK and are set for a busy festival season. They are also planning to write and record as much as they can in between shows in order to be able to release a new album soon.

Né Joe Savins le 23 avril 1990 à Cambridge, Royaume-Uni, Joe Savins est un musicien mieux connu en tant que membre fondateur et lead guitariste de Mallory Knox.
Joe commence à s'intéresser très jeune à la musique. Au début des années 1990, avec l'explosion de la Britpop, regarder des groupes tels qu'Oasis, Blur, Lightning Seeds et Suede jouer sur le plateau de l'émission Top Of The Pops le fait tomber amoureux de la guitare.
Il se met à apprendre à jouer de la guitare à l'age de 4 ans. Commencer à un si jeune fait que la guitare semble être comme une seconde nature pour Joe. Plus tard, il essaye d'apprendre à jouer de la bass et de la batterie mais n'a jamais réellement envie de continuer avec ces instruments.
Sa passion pour la musique se confirme après qu'il ait assisté au concert d'Oasis à Knebworth House quand il avait 7 ans. Depuis ce jour, il a toujours rêvé d'être dans un groupe et se sent à présent reconnaissant et chanceux de pouvoir gagner sa vie ainsi. Bien qu'il soit aussi très fan de football, il n'a jamais eu envie de devenir joueur professionnel, se considérant plus comme un spectateur que comme un joueur.
Aux côtés de son future camarade de Mallory Knox James Gillett, Joe commence à jouer dans des groupes à l'age de 13 ans. Après une série de projets de courte durée, ils forment un groupe du nom d'Ascendia, qui est leur premier groupe répétant régulièrement et avec lequel ils jouent leurs premiers concerts. Bien qu'aucun de ces groupes n'aient sorti d'album, Joe les considère quand même comme une bonne expérience qui lui a plus tard servi lors de la fondation de Mallory Knox.
En 2009, se sentant lassé du groupe dans lequel il joue, il décide de former Mallory Knox avec Dave Rawling. Au début, le groupe ne devait être qu'un duo sans réel plan de concert ou quoi que ce soit d'autre, les deux amis voulaient juste écrire et jouer de la musique ensemble pour s'amuser. Cependant, ils sont vite rejoints par Sam Douglas et Mikey Chapman.
Ils enregistrent quelques chansons ensemble, qu'ils sortent ensuite en ligne, avant d'être rejoints par James Gillett (lineup de Mallory Knox : Mikey Chapman (chant), Joe Savins (lead guitare, choeur), James Gillett (guitare rythmique, choeur), Sam Douglas (basse, co-chant), Dave Rawling (batterie)).
Après avoir passé quelques mois à écrire des chansons, le groupe commence à jouer des concerts à Cambridge.
En 2010, Mallory Knox embarquent sur leur première tournée, faisant la première partie de Never Means Maybe.
