Happy birthday, Michael Starr ...
Born Ralph Saenz on May 17 1965 in Chicago, Illinois, U.S., Michael Starr is the vocalist of the glam metal band Steel Panther (lineup: Michael Starr (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Satchel (lead guitar, acoustic guitar, backing vocals), Lexxi Foxx (bass, backing vocals), Stix Zadinia (drums, percussion, keyboards, piano, backing vocals)).
He was the lead singer for Atomic Punks, a Van Halen tribute band, from May 1994 to December 2008. In this band, he was known under the nickname of David Lee Ralph (a reference to David Lee Roth).
He was also singer for the L.A. Guns in 1998 and recorded with them the Wasted EP.
He has sung for various bands like Nightfall, 7% Solution, First Cause...
Through his career, he has been known under other nicknames like Michael Diamond and Michael Saenz.
He briefly appeared in the movie Rock Star (2001). When Mark Wahlberg's and Jennifer Aniston's characters walk into the audition, he is seen in the glass booth auditioning.
In an interview for the Swedish magazine Hardrock, he revealed he is half Swedish and half Spanish.
