Born Frank Carlton Serafino Feranna, Jr on December 11 1958 at 7:11 am, in San Jose, California, Nikki Sixx is a musician, songwriter, radio host, and photographer. He is best known as the co-founder and bassist of Mötley Crüe (classic lineup: Vince Neil (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, harmonica), Mick Mars (guitar, backing vocals), Nikki Sixx (bass guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Tommy Lee (drums, percussion, piano, backing vocals)).
The band decided to self-record their debut album, Too Fast for Love (released in November 1981 on the band's own Leathür Records label).
During the 80s, Nikki Sixx became addicted to heroin (unlike his bandmates). He estimates he overdosed "about half a dozen times". Not long after his overdose (December 23, 1987), Sixx and his bandmates went into rehab. In 1989, they produced their most successful record, Dr. Feelgood, with producer Bob Rock. After its release , the album stayed on the charts for 114 weeks.
In 2006, at first only to record an audio accompaniment to his autobiography The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, he formed the band Sixx A.M. with James Michael as vocalist and DJ Ashba as lead guitar.

Le groupe décida d'enregistrer eux-mêmes leur premier album, Too Fast For Love (sorti en Novembre 1981 sur le label du groupe : Leathür Records).
Pendant les années 80, Nikki est devenu accro à l'héroïne. (contrairement aux autres membres du groupe). Il estime avoir overdosé "environ une demie douzaine de fois".
